The Farr designed Beneteau First 47.7 has long been regarded as an excellent cruiser/racer that really does have the best of both worlds! This vessel presents in EXCELLENT order having been very well maintained and has been raced and cruised locally with much success.
The vessel has an interesting history, having been bought by a Japanese owner where it competed successfully in the 2000 Kenwood Cup in Hawaii, before being sailed back to Japan. From here the current owner purchased the vessel and sailed her back to Tasmania and noted the exceptional performance of the vessel in all offshore conditions. As a regular participant in the Hobart racing scene, the vessel has also competed in the Launceston to Hobart race, as well as weekly club racing.
The meticulous current owner has kept up a comprehensive maintenance schedule including the following upgrades: All NEW STANDING RIGGING 2015, Full HULL RESPRAY 2015, regular upgrades to the sail wardrobe including a brand NEW No. 3 Headsail. The 55HP Yanmar engine has also been professionally maintained and looks as new as well as boasting low hours.
Down below the combination of race boat and cruiser blend very well together, and the quality and finish typical of the Beneteau fit-outs has been well maintained too. The open area below the companionway steps is ideal for handling sails in race conditions but also provides a light airy feel to the saloon. The U shaped dinette with free standing settee, will comfortably seat 8, the galley has a full stove with oven, excellent refrigeration with top loading and separate front opening units, and absolute stacks of storage space. The accommodation features 2 very large private double cabins aft, these are the equivalent of those on the cruising models, while the race element is evident with 4 pipe cot/hammock style bunks in the separate for'ard cabin, and the sail locker storage area is for'ard again. A full bathroom with separate shower is adjacent to the aft cabins. The "true" nav station has good electronics all at the navigators fingertips, and another great feature below is the prism style glass plus large quantity of opening hatches and port style windows, allowing good natural light and ventilation.
The cockpit provides the balanced blend between racer/cruiser, with plenty of functional space for the racing crew and a great space to relax post race or at anchor.
As one would expect all the necessary items, eg 3 speed winches, good turning blocks, rope clutches, ( the list goes on) for competitive operation of the boat.
This vessel really is a well balanced blend of amazing performance and cruising comforts. There is nothing to do except step aboard and enjoy.
