Details
Designed by the legendary NZ designer Laurie Davidson, the Davidson 52 is one of the most stunning and competitive cruiser/racers to come out of the 80's. This vessel is an incredible example of the design, and with its gleaming blue topsides, immaculate varnish work, and racing finish hull, it represents a great opportunity to race or cruise with speed and comfort.

As a racer, this vessel has an exceptional IRC rating of 1.143 which is the envy of many smaller yachts. This vessel has achieved top ten finishes in the Sydney to Hobart Race 5 times, and was the overall winner in 1990 including taking the record for best corrected time across all handicaps. This vessel has continued to be raced locally under the current ownership and is rarely off the podium, proving to be one of the top IRC performers in Hobart. Originally built for a Double Handed Transpac Race, this vessel would also make a serious contender for the inaugural Double Handed Division of the 2020 Sydney Hobart Race, or the 2023 Melbourne to Osaka Double Handed Race.

Inside, the varnish work is truely immaculate and has been maintained to an exceptional standard by the fastidious owners. The accommodation is generous and comfortable for both cruising and racing. There are two large aft double cabins, one with a full ensuite, four singles in the saloon, and a single and large double in the forepeak adjacent to the main bathroom. The well appointed U shaped galley is to starboard and features large top loading fridge and freezer, two burner stove with over, and ample storage space. The saloon has a large dinette with room for a full race crew, or perfect for entertaining.

On deck, the cockpit is set up to be easily managed short handed or with a full race crew. Both the primary winches, backstay, and mainsheet are easily accessible from helm position, with all other lines coming to the cabin top. The vessel has an excellent inventory of race sails including a NEW 2018 Doyles Carbon Stratus No. 1 and No. 3 Headsails, and all deck equipment is in excellent condition. The vessel is powered by a 48HP Bukh which has been very well maintained and provides comfortable cruising speeds of 7 to 8 knots.

This vessel presents a great opportunity to race competitively at the highest level both inshore and offshore, whilst still having a comfortable cruising boat with all the modern convenience. Seriously priced to sell, with Australian Registration, this vessel is ready to go.
An inspection will not disappoint. For more information please call Jo Breen on 0432 031 100 or John Radonic on 0459 322 862.
