Details
Renowned for their impressive sailing performance, true Bluewater capability, and spacious interior, it is little wonder why the Kelly Peterson 44 has remained so sought after. With over 300 built, many completed circumnavigations, with owners always praising their sea keeping abilities in even the most challenging conditions. This vessel is a good example of the design, having been purchased by the current highly experienced owner in 1997. Based in Seattle at the time, the owner undertook an extensive refit of the vessel to properly equip it for long range cruising. He enjoyed multiple cruises to Alaska and Canada, before sailing the vessel back to Australia in 2008 via the South Pacific. The vessel has been fully imported into Australia and he has enjoyed extensive cruising since then up and down the East Coast, with the occasional trip to New Caledonia. Superbly equipped, the cruising inventory features MODERN GARMIN ELECTRONICS, HARKEN WINCHES, KUBOTA GENSET, 820W OF SOLAR PANELS, NEW 2019 HOUSE BATTERIES, WALKER BAY TENDER WITH OUTBOARD, HYDRO VANE WIND VANE STEERING SYSTEM, VACUFLUSH FRESHWATER TOILETS, NEW 2021 WALLAS HEATER, CARBON FIBRE SPINNAKER POLE, STRONG TRACK SLIDE SYSTEM FOR THE MAINSAIL, the list goes on. Whether you want to sail around the stunning waters of Tasmania, utilise its comfortable accommodation to enjoy the liveaboard life style, or make your most ambitious sailing aspirations a reality, this stunning vessel can do it all in safety and style.
Stepping inside the traditional timber fitout provides a warm and welcoming ambience. To port is the dinette with seating for 6 in comfort on the neatly upholstered settees. The U-shapped galley is well appointed and idea for preparing meals whilst at sea. It is fully equipped with 3 burner gas stove with oven, eutectic fridge/freezer, stainless steel sink with H/C pressurised water, and plenty of storage. The accommodation is ideal for cruising with friends and family, or would also suit a liveaboard. Aft is the generous master cabin with double berth, extensive storage, and ensuite with toilet with holding tank, and vanity. The second private cabin is forward with a single berth, and second full bathroom adjacent. There is also a single settee berth in the saloon ideal as a sea berth when on passage. Being a true Bluewater cruiser the vessel also features a generous chart table complete with HF and VHF Radios, extensive electronics, and comfortable seat.
Outside, the cockpit is well protected by the spray dodger and is a great space to relax in your favourite anchorage. The vessel is very well set up for extended shorthanded sailing, with the modern Garmin electronics, quality self tailing winches, furling headsail, and autopilot. There is easy access around the wide side decks, and the high bulwarks provide an extra sense of security when moving forward. The vessel is also well set up to deal with challenging weather with a separate track for a trysail, and storm staysail included.
This vessel is powered by a well maintained and reliable Perkins 58HP Diesel Engine which provides comfortable cruising at 6 knots. There is also a 15HP Kubota diesel engine powering a 210amp alternator as genset, and fuel polishing system installed.
With extensive spares for all systems, this vessel is a complete package. Whilst the vessel would benefit from some cosmetic work inside, it has everything you need to make your dreams a reality! For more information please call Jo Breen on 0432031100 or John Radonic on 0459322862.
