From the design board of the renowned Maurice Griffiths, professionally built to the highest standards, and well appointed through out, this vessel presents a great opportunity to acquire a seriously capable, bluewater cruiser. The efficient design ensures great performance under both motor and sail, with excellent sea-keeping abilities in all weather conditions. It features all the comforts of a small appartment, and is also ideal as a stunning waterfront liveboard, or full time cruising vessel.
The construction is strip planked mahogany below the waterline and western red cedar above, all fully glassed both sides ensuring an extremely strong hull with good weight distribution. This coupled with a magnificent internal timber fitout puts the vessel in a league of its own, we just do not see timber boats built like this come on the market these days.
The vessels large volume ensures a very open and spacious feel down below, with excellent accommodation. A very functional galley to port, large nav station to starboard then for'ard to the excellent dinette area comfortably seating eight and settee opposite, with an aft large double berth, 3 singles plus the dinette area providing additional berths if required, and a full bathroom completing the generous layout.
The cockpit area features laid teak, has stacks of room for relaxing at anchor and well set-up for easy handling with minimum crew required. The generous decks allow very good access all round the vessel. Power is from a well maintained 80hp Ford diesel motor, providing a very economical and comfortable cruising speed of 6 knots, with excellent all round access to service the motor etc.
The inventory is extensive, with a good sail wardrobe, electronics, diesel heater, wind vane, Zodiac inflatable, electric anchor winch, plus all the necessary items for extended voyages, really the list just goes on.
Sotalia is just back in Tasmania after completing a full circumnavigation over the last seven years. The owner has now ticked this off his bucket list hence the boat becoming available for sale.
