With its elegant classic lines, stunning interior, and modern upgrades, "Soliloque of Searles" is simply superb! The vessel was designed by Captain William Bailey as a strong and capable offshore cruiser for the well known Penfold family (Penfolds Wines). It was built with no expenses spared at Searles Boatyard in South Australia, who are renowned for their exceptionally high quality timber vessels. The vessel has been very well maintained by each owner, and has benefitted from many significant modern upgrades in recent times. This has created a vessel which has classic appeal and aesthetics, whilst also being a very comfortable and capable cruising yacht with modern luxuries. The vessel features a DIESEL HEATER WITH DUCTING THROUGHOUT THE VESSEL, HOT WATER, MODERN RAYMARINE ELECTRONICS AND AUTOPILOT, UPGRADED ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WITH NEW SWITCHBOARD AND BATTERY MONITORING SYSTEM, LARGE FRIDGE, the list goes on! Presented in excellent condition throughout, this vessel will not only delight wooden yacht enthusiasts, but also has the creature comforts to be enjoyed by anyone looking for a strong and capable cruiser. It could even be utilised and enjoyed as a unique live-aboard with a real 'wow!' factor.

Stepping inside, the quality of the original built is immediately evident. The traditional timber fit-out presents in excellent condition, and gives a real old world charm. The saloon features a folding leaf dinette with seating for 8 in comfort. This area also doubles as accomodation, with a double berth to port, and two singles to starboard. The remaining accomodation is the forepeak, with two generously sized singles berths and ample storage. The galley is adjacent to the companionway, ideal for servicing both the saloon and hungry crew on deck. It features a two burner metho stove, stainless steel bench top and sink with H/C pressurised water, and large fridge opposite in the traditional chart table. The package is complete with a private bathroom to starboard with toilet and fold out vanity, and seperate shower room opposite.

On deck, the varnish work and quality teak decks are in excellent condition. The vessel is very well set up to be easily sailed shorthanded or even single handed, and features a Raymarine autopilot, boom bags with lazy jacks for the main and mizzen, furling genoa, and self tacking staysail. With full sails up the vessel really is an incredible sight on the water, and its sailing ability will delight even the most discerning sailor.

This vessel is powered by a well maintained 80HP Perkins Diesel Engine. All the major components of the engine have been replaced or rebuilt in recent times, a duel Raycor fuel fitter system added, and the prop shaft and cutlass bearing have been replaced. This reliable engine provides easy cruising at 6 to 7 knots.

This versatile vessel represents an incredible opportunity to own a piece of maritime history that is not only stunning aesthetically, but also a joy to sail and cruise. Timber vessels so meticulously maintained rarely come on the market, so an inspection is highly recommended.
